About Me
Hi... My name is Molly Downey, thank you so much for visiting thegroundingstone.com. I was born and raised in Iowa and live here today. I am truly proud to be a native Iowan as the richness of its nature and the kindness of its people amazes me every day.
Growing up you could always find me in the woods, the field or the creek bed. This innate curiosity about nature stayed with me into adulthood and brought me to a Bachelor's Degree in Natural History.
Stones have always been awe inspiring to me. I collect most of mine from the Mississippi River...little pieces of earth, shaped by time, and the elements, over thousands of years. The heart of every stone has its own story and carries with it a glimpse of the future and its infinite possibilities.
We each have our own 'groundings'...the things in our life that make us the happiest. I decided to create symbols of these passions and ground them with the stones that I love.
We have grounding stones scattered throughout our home, in both indoor and outdoor spaces, and everytime I see one it truly fills me with contentment and joy. The crafting of these pieces has become one of my 'groundings' and each symbol reminds me of my other passions. I hope you enjoy them too!
